CULTURE NIGHT CELEB SPOTTING 2019

This could be a one-off, or the first in an annual series like my Edinburgh Celeb Spotting blog.

Anyway, when I was out at Culture Night, I spotted some celebs out and about.

Mary Peters, walking along Union Street.

Claire Hanna, walking along Hill Street.

Eden Wilson, filming on the grounds of St Anne’s Cathedral. Good job I did spot her, otherwise I would have accidentally walked into shot and appeared on UTV Live.

Barra Best, walking along Donegall Street. I would have thanked him for the good weather, but we all know that Frank Mitchell arranged it.

Frank Skinner aside, this was not a vintage year. Pet Shop Boys were in Edinburgh at the same time as me but I didn’t see them. They are promoting a show they have written music for. Where in Edinburgh is this show? In the West End of course, which is not a dead end world. It’s actually quite nice

You can’t go to Edinburgh in August and not someone you recognise, usually a Journalist of Comedian who has featured on Top 100 Donald Trump Tweets on Channel 5 (Not an actual TV show yet but it is surely a matter of time).

Sometimes, you actually see people who are famous.

So, here is a list of people who have been on the telly at some point I spotted while I was in Edinburgh recently.

Saturday 5th August

Angela Barnes – Walking though a bar at Pleasance.

Sunday 6th August

Clive Anderson* – Walking along George Street.

Greg Proops – Walking into The Assembly Rooms.

Monday 7th August

Jeremy Vine** – Eating his dinner in the same restaurant I was in.

*A second appearance on this blog for him. Like his last appearance, I ended up laughing to myself about that Brass Eye sketch.

**His brother has already beaten him to appearing on this blog by a few years.

You may have noticed the absence of Al Murray. I didn’t even walk past him once. I didn’t even think it was possible to go to Edinburgh in August and not see Al Murray.

Celeb Spotting is as big a part of going to the Edinburgh Festival as going to actual shows. Every year, you’re guaranteed to see somebody remotely famous there.

This year was no different, although I had to wait a while. I arrived on the Saturday morning, and didn’t see a celeb until the Monday night.

With Edinburgh hosting the world’s biggest comedy festival, there’s a very good chance you might spot some celebrities – or at least some people of been on some TV show you’ve seen.

So, as ever, I kept an eye out, and bring you the mundane spottings of slightly known people doing things and walking in places.
